A Note from The Station Manager:

When I was a teenager in Peoria, there
were two stations that almost everyone
listened to, KZ93 and Rock 106
. Most of us
listened to one or the other. KZ was the "top-forty"
station while 106 was the rock, covering everything
from the classics to the latest music from the top bands.

When I came to Jesus, my musical taste came with me.
As you may guess, I was one of the Rock 106 crowd.
I have never been a "top-forty" kind of guy. Currently,
that's what's available here in Peoria and in many other
markets. There's nothing wrong with a top-forty format.
In fact, it's a very real and necessary part of the musical
world. After all, if it wasn't doing well, it wouldn't be
the top of anything.

The idea for Holy Fire is to be the "Rock 106" of the
Christian music scene in Peoria. We will play all of the
other stuff, like hard rock, alternative, and metal, and
just about any other type of Christian music not
currently available around here. Yeah, we'll even do
some country on Saturday mornings for all you
rednecks and redneck wannabes out there. (Yeah, that
includes me).

We are not in competition with the local stations. Most
of the listening audience for Holy Fire is already
listening to other outlets, most of them secular, because
they can't find anything like the type of music they enjoy
on any of our local Christian stations. We are filling the
need that has never been met here.

At the end of the day, It's all about Jesus and His
music.

Holy Fire is about more than
just playing great music. It's
about reaching out with the love
of Jesus to a generation seeking
answers.

It may be no surprise to you that around 90% of the
membership in youth groups leave the church by their
sophomore year of college. There are a number of
reasons for this, but one of them is that they are not
being reached with music they enjoy that honors Jesus.
Music is one of the most powerful influences in anyone's
life.It bypasses most of our defenses and speaks directly
into our minds and hearts. If we spend all of our time
listening to music that promotes a carnal, relativistic
worldview or, in many cases, that openly mocks God
and His people, it will erode our faith. Holy Fire has
been created to provide the God-honoring alternative.
We play the musical styles they like but from people
who honor God with the style and lyrics.

Yes, we are going to play great Christian music in a
wide variety. Yes, that includes local artists and their
original music. That is part of our commitment not only
to reach out to the youth and young adult community,
but to connect them to local Christian artists and the
music they have to share. These artists need a place to
express themselves and share what the Lord has given
them.

The bottom line, we want to reach out with the love and
Jesus and use God-honoring music to build a community
of people committed to Jesus and one another across all
denominational lines. We are about Jesus and His
business.
